Overview
The Soliya Network is the community of individuals who participate in Soliya’s training and dialogue programs. The Soliya Network has a space to connect, collaborate and share opportunities with the rest of the community, allowing you to be actively involved in Soliya’s mission by participating in programs and bringing them to your local communities. The purpose of the Network is to facilitate the growth of each member, to enrich each member through a variety of experiences, to cultivate a sense of belonging among all members.
Soliya Principles of Engagement
We strive to uphold the following values, and we expect you and all Network members to do so, as well:
We welcome cooperation with our Network members to advance our common goals beyond Soliya itself. It is essential that you communicate with us in advance if you or your organization are interested in referring to a cooperative relationship with Soliya to anyone outside the Network, if you are interested in pursuing a partnership with Soliya and any other individual or organization, or if you wish to act on behalf of Soliya in any context, online or in person. You must take the following steps if you wish to pursue any of those activities:
Abiding by activity-specific agreements and expectations
If you participate in a specific program offered by Soliya, you are expected to review and accept the agreement or expectations Soliya shares with you before the program begins.
Privacy Policy
Review our Privacy Policy, which describes how Soliya will handle data collected from the Network and the guidelines that we will follow to ensure that your privacy will always be respected. Accepting this Membership Agreement means you accept Soliya’s Privacy Policy.
Joining the Network
Anyone interested in joining the Soliya Network is welcome to apply to Soliya's Basic and Advanced Facilitation Training, the entry point through which everyone must pass to become a member.
Leaving the Network
Failure to abide by the requirements expressed in this agreement, or in an agreement for a specific Soliya activity, may result in your being asked to leave the Network.
If you wish to leave the Network, contact Soliya at network@soliya.net. We will remove you from the online space and contact list.

Soliya Principles of Engagement
- We are committed to supporting diverse youth from Western and Muslim-majority societies to engage in dialogue & cooperation based on mutual respect.
- We will not discriminate against individuals based on their group identity.
- We respect that some individuals may not be willing or able to interact with individuals from certain identity groups.
- We will support them to engage where they are willing and able, based on our belief in the empowering and transformative potential of such experiences.
We strive to uphold the following values, and we expect you and all Network members to do so, as well:
- Curiosity: Seeking to understand first, which tells the person we’re interacting with that their perspective matters and often makes it more likely that they, in turn, will listen to our perspective.
- Authenticity: Challenging others by representing what we truly feel and standing our ground in regard to those feelings, not saying something just because we think it is what the other wants to hear, or avoiding saying anything at all because we don’t want to upset someone.
- Respect: Recognizing the basic human dignity in everyone and so treating them respectfully even when we strongly disagree with their views, positions or actions.
- Empathy: Being able to acknowledge perspectives other than our own and recognize as legitimate the feelings experienced by another person, even though we may disagree with the conclusions drawn by that person.
- You have an obligation to respect the privacy of others. You may not record or share information about other members of Soliya Network or Soliya activity participants without their approval. All comments made in any Soliya Network space or during any Soliya activity are private and may not be repeated without permission of person who made the comment.
- You must not engage in hate speech or participate in communication that advocates for hate or violence towards other members of the Soliya Network or towards the communities to which they belong. Genuine disagreement or differences may arise during your interactions with other members of the community. Whenever such differences escalate to a conflict, we invite you to use your best communication skills to go through it peacefully. Whenever that is not possible, we invite you to contact a Soliya point person who will give you the appropriate support to transcend the challenge.
- You must honestly represent yourself. You must use your real name, picture, and other identifying information if it is requested of you. You must not pretend to be another person, let another person pretend to be you, or let another person have access to a Soliya space or activity while using your account.
- You may not spam the Soliya Network or use the group for commercial purposes.
- You may not engage in illegal activity in or through the Soliya Network.

- Receive our written permission for the specific action that you wish to take.
- In your actions and communication beyond the Soliya Network, you should honestly represent your role in Soliya and the nature of the arrangement through which you are communicating about Soliya outside the Soliya Network.
- Inform Soliya about the results of any reference to Soliya outside the Soliya Network. It is especially important to tell us about any critical responses or negative attention that may result from actions or communications that occur outside the Network.
